The October cover story from Elle US stars Lorde, marking her very first major fashion magazine cover. Thomas Whiteside captured the dark-haired star on an East London rooftop.
Lorde also opens up about maintaing her authenticity in the cutthroat industry of music. “A lot of times when people meet me, they’ll definitely try to make me feel young or inexperienced. Like, ‘It’s all taken care of’. Teenagers are such a discerning group of people. They’ll immediately sniff out anything that feels contrived. I’m, like, constantly scanning myself to see if I’m some corporate executive version of a teenager. I’ve developed something of a fearsome reputation. People know that if you talk down to me, I will roll my eyes or whatever.”
German lingerie brand Triumph decided for a recent campaign to enlist real women as the stars rather than models. Marc Hom of Bernstein & Andriulli captured the women, who are all different ages and from different walks of lives, in laid-back portraits wearing underwear and loungewear from the label. “I find it very fascinating to make real women look incredibly sensual and beautiful,” Marc said. “Beauty really comes from within.”
